Our Story

Parle Magazine is an urban entertainment magazine based in NYC that focuses on the creative aspect of journalism and the world of urban entertainment-music, film, fashion, and literature.  Since 2004, we've been bringing the best in urban entertainment in print and in 2009 we started the online component:  www.parlemagazine.com.

Parle Teen is a free, monthly magazine distributed throughout New York City and Jersey City high schools. The magazine focuses on educating teens and young adults on journalism and creative writing, things that are quickly becoming a lost art in our school systems. Using urban entertainment we hope to get teens interested in reading and hopefully participating in all aspects of journalism and creative writing.

The Impact

Eventually, Parle Teen will be created by teens from high schools across the country. We hope to show teens everything it takes to create, run, promote, and manage a business, so that they understand the steps it takes to pursue any dreams they may have.

Parle Teen, the magazine, is the first step in the creation of a nonprofit organization of the same name that teaches journalism, mentors youth and provides educational enhancement.

What We Need & What You Get

After much planning the expected launch date of the first issue has been set at March 19, 2012.

The goal is to distribute 30,000 copies of the publication in 300 schools across New York City & parts of New Jersey. On average that's only 100 copies per school, but a great opportunity for schools to test the publication on their school population as we gain advertising/funding for further issues.

This is a small launch for the publication and we expect to release at least two more issues before the school year is out.  

By September 2012 we expect to roll-out our full launch with over 500,000 copies in the New York, New Jersey & Connecticut metropolitan area with over 50 teen participants.

Your donations will help launch the website, fund the follow-up issues, help introduce teens to journalism & creative writing, help us put together teen based events, as well as help launch a dream.
