THE SHORT FILM SYNOPSIS - PABLO ON WHEELS

The school day drags on.  Pablo, a young boy, daydreams of skateboarding, his brother, and his family.  The social worker asks about Pablo's classes,  his brother, if he misses his parents.  But Pablo just wants to draw and dream of skateboarding.

With maturity beyond his years, Rey, cares for his brother Pablo, filling the role of two parents who are no longer there, in a tiny apartment, at 19 years old. Aunt Anita barges in, accuses Rey of being unable to care for Pablo, of separating him from his heritage, his culture, his mothers wishes.  In his room, Pablo waits for the argument to end.  He dreams, remembering. His parents house.  A loud knock at the door.  His mother, smiling.  Pushing him into a closet. Shh, Mijo, you have to hide.

Six months after their parent's deportation to Mexico, Rey and Pablo do what they can to survive in the city where dreams are either fulfilled or broken.  The bond of skateboarding keeps them together, but the culture surrounding it begins to split them apart.  A single mistake by Rey threatens to take away the last family he has left.

WHERE WE ARE AT

We are currently in the pre-production stage.  During this stage of the film all of the ground work needs to be laid, from casting to location scouting, it all has to be finished by Principle Photography, which is scheduled for mid July.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Our Director/Producer, Brett Sorem gives each and every one of the cast and crew members a sense of ownership of each project he is a part of.  That means that we all our not just working on his film, but each of us contributes something that makes his project our own.  As much as we would like every one of you to help out on set or behind the scenes, hundreds of people on a short film set would be hard to work around.  Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help out with our budget, even though from conception to completion, the total costs will be over twice that amount.  We are asking you to invest in Nocturnal Features.  Not only will your contribution help produce a captivating short film, "Pablo on Wheels," but you will be investing in the independent film market of the future.  Each of the crew members of Nocturnal Features are young, fresh talents that will one day be making the films of tomorrow.  So if you enjoy the art of cinema, and believe in what we aspire to, please invest in Nocturnal Features, who will one day produce films you will watch with your friends and family.  Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I learn more about the film?

Please visit our website, www.nocturnalfeatures.com
You will find the synopsis, contact information, and trailers to our first feature, "Blood Run Free," to get an idea of the production quality we are able to bring to the screen.

How can I donate?

PayPal is the most direct way to get us the money as it goes through immediately... regular credit card donations will be collected after the deadline. Either way, we're just as appreciative of both!

If I donate, when can I redeem the incentive?

Once the New York film premiere is over, we will start shipping the merchandise and incentives, such as DVD's, Movie Posters, Premiere Tickets, etc...

What happens if you don't raise enough money to meet the goal?

We will still receive most of the money donated, accept IndieGoGo takes a much larger percentage.  So don't be discouraged to donate if we are not close to our goal, we will need your help more than ever then.

Can we exceed the goal of $10,000 and raise more?

YES! In fact this is what we hope to achieve.  Exceeding the goal will help us finish the film on time, and we won't have to pick and chose what not to put money towards to compromise our creative vision.  If 500 people each donate 20 dollars, we will meet our goal of $10,000.  We are hoping to come close to twice that.

Where does the money go to?

All of the donations go directly into the production of the film.  If we far surpass our goal, it could help with film festival marketing and submissions, and we would be so ever grateful to reach that amount.
