Our Story

Thanks to popular culture, the term Obsessive Compulsive has become a household phrase.  The lady who checks her car door locks twice might be quick to call herself A little Obsessive Compulsive.  However, there are over three million people in the United States (500,000 of these children) that know the true terror of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
ONCE AGAIN is a short experimental documentary about the truth of Childhood OCD.  Weaving together live action footage, home movies, and animation, I tell the story of my childhood struggles with this horrible disorder. Animated vignettes offer a first person point of view of how the world looks with an obsessed mind. In the early nineties, OCD was thought to be a behavioral, almost psychotic disorder. Through mental torture, hospitalization, and humiliation, Once Again shows how I eventually won the fight against he disorder to become champions of my own mind and body.
My name is John Spottswood Moore.  I am currently getting my masters in Documentary filmmaking for UT Austin.  Though I have been working on this piece for nearly two years, I have been waiting to tell this story for 17 years. You can see some of my work at my website: www.jumpupfilms.com . Thanks for dropping by!

The Impact

Nearly 5 million Americans suffer from OCD, 500,000 of these are children. I am trying to create the educational materials that I never had as a child suffering through this horrible ordeal.  As both an animator and OCD sufferer, I am in a very unique and important position. As an animator (here is one of my cartoons), I have the unique ability to illustrate this mindset in a way that my words never will.  This is of special significance to doctors and parents of OCD sufferers.  It is important that they have a document of how OCD feels beyond their textbook explanations.  I also want to empower young kids who might see the film.

What We Need & What You Get

ALL of the costs will go into hiring a team of two to three additional animators. It is important that I illustrate the OCD mindset as Im telling the story.  Animation is a very timely, arduous process. In order to ensure that these vignettes are completed on schedule, it is important that I hire additional artists to help with backgrounds and Key frame animation.  I am requesting $5,000. This should cover the wage of two animators for the post-production period listed.

I have loads of perks. Though I don't have much money, you could receive a hand-drawn picture, a home cooked meal, and even a credit in the film!

Other Ways You Can Help

Information is it's own currency! Even if you can't donate, please send my campaign to others.  Beyond just raising money, I want those who need this film most (parents and children with OCD) to know it exists. If you can give even ten bucks, it will help advance my project.  I recently presented a showcase of films at the IOCDF national conventions.  Many parents agreed that they wish they simply knew a project like this existed.
