Our Story

"This stylish and ambitious independent show depicts the angst of a group of Washington, D.C. teens in the mid-1990s. Created by D.C. native Otessa Ghadar, this independent show really captures the experience of a generation defined by a letter, shaped by Otessas naturalistic style and keen attention to detail."

"It's My So-Called Life meets Skins [UK] with the bonus of local landmarks so satisfying for District residents with locational inferiority complexes"

You know that summer, right The summer where EVERYTHING changes?  Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden is that summer.  A web-series set in Washington, D.C., Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden follows the lives of a group of teenagers growing up in the 1990s.  Think grunge, Doc Martens, raves and underage tomfoolery.

Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden is an independent project with a female driven production team, and a cast and crew comprised of all local area residents.  Offering a fresh look at the lives of D.C. teens, the stories and the characters ring true, and the diverse cast offers a relatable experience for every viewer.  Filmmaker, Otessa Ghadar, started Orange Juice in Bishops Garden as her MFA Thesis at Columbia University.  The series is an example of "writing what you know"; it is inspired by memories of Ghadars own teenage years in D.C.

The Impact

Now weeks away from premiering our 4th season, we have viewers in 133 countries, more than 304,500 page views, and over 45,000 unique visits to our website.  The series has been recently selected as a 2011 LA Web Festival First 20 nominee, and 2011 Indie Intertube Awards Ensemble Drama nominee.

We hope to produce a brand new season, broaden our reach, and continue to provide a platform for teens and nostalgic 90's lovers to interact.  But we need your help to continue moving forward!

What We Need & What You Get

We are trying to raise $10,000which is what we would need for a full 3 week shoot: equipment, permits, food for our hard working crew, and much morebut the bare minimum we could make the season happen for is $3,000.  Please help us exceed our minimum.  We need your help & support! Tell your friends and pass on the word!  Anything you donate will go directly towards the production costs of the show.  Even the smallest contribution will help us to create Season 5... more cold 40s, break-ups, make-outs, the emergence of pre-millennial Spice Girls fashion, and general jankiness during another summer in D.C.

If you would like to make a large, tax exempt donation, we've partenered with From the Heart Productions to accept tax-deductible payments.  Please contact us directly at reply@twentytwentyproductions.com or (202) 588-5891.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you're unable to make a donation, please tell any and everybody you know to check out the series (orangejuiceinbishopsgarden.com/) and make a donation if they can.  Word-of-mouth is our biggest ally, so if you like the show, spread the word!
