We are Scubaboy and we are directing a short film to raise awareness of the issue of sex traffiking.

The films narrative is formed from the real life experience of young girl who’s story is being repeated everyday across the globe. It is a story of how the normal hopes and dreams of a young girl quickly turn into a very real nightmare of imprisonment and sex slavery.

The voice-over telling the story is painful to listen to but conveys a message of innocence lost that needs to be heard and seen. The hope is that the film will provoke people to discuss the issue, and ultimately encourage them to get involved with or support organisations who work tirelessly to prevent this story becoming a horrendous reality for thousands of girls across the globe.

The film will be a short and intense visualisation of the voice over, with an experimental twist to show how dreams get stolen and are turned into tragic realities. The 2:30 – 3:00 minute running time will enable us to get the film shared amongst online communities. It will also be pushed and distributed through the commissioning charities who have vital global links to help spread the message far and wide.

We currently have a small budget made up by of small amount the charity can spare and a little bit from our own pockets. As it stands we don’t have enough to even cover the expenses of everyone who wants to be involved, let alone locations or kit. We have most of a crew on board – all of whom are professionals who are all working for free (although we are still missing a couple of key people). Casting is underway and we have an abundance of talented and skilled professionals who are all working for the cause of the project.

We believe that for the piece to work, the film has to be produced to a certain technical standard, achieve a high level of reality in it’s look, and contain strong, believable performances. If we cannot reach these goals then we risk producing something that looks cheap which ultimately will compromise the films potential to make an impact on it’s audience.

Every bit of money that is raised for this film is vital in getting all the elements of production in the right place at the right time – it will enable this important film to be made. Without it, we will struggle to create a piece that does justice to the testimony and the victims, so in advance, we thank you for your time reading this and any donation to this cause that you can spare.
