Mud People

A Maine clammer, a dying man, a mysterious woman . . . and an unexpected gift.

Mud People: A Homely Name for a Beautiful Film

Mud People is about a clammer, Tyler, who uncovers a mysterious box buried in a mudflat. Inside it is a note that directs the box's finder to return it to a nearby house where an old man, Edward, is dying. There, Tyler meets a Sudanese refugee named Sarah and Edward unexpectedly gives him a large amount of cash. Tyler leaves confused and curious, unsure of the old man's motivation and intrigued by the enigmatic Sarah. The film ends with Tyler and Sarah walking into the sunset, the old man dead, and the money gone. But the film isn't really about Tyler, Sarah, the old man, and the money. It's about hard decisions and human dignity.
