Moving Slowly is a short film exploring grief and trauma through relationships of space and time. But really it’s about a guy who falls asleep to escape the world, and the places that seem to have betrayed him.

Inspired by the classic silent comics Charlie Chaplin, and Buster Keaton, and their intimate sense of the comedy within the tragedy, Moving Slowly is Tyler Hagan’s 4th Year Grad Project for the Film Program at Simon Fraser University’s School for the Contemporary Arts. It will be shot on 16mm film (a dying breed), have a runtime of approx. 10mins, and will be completed by May 2011.

Shakey Films’ first production “And You Keep Going” (2009) starring two of Vancouver’s most legendary down-and-out musicians struck a chord with audiences in its local debut, and has continued to stumble its way through the festival circuit with surprising success.

It made its Canadian premiere at the Montreal World Film festival, its World premiere at Filmstock 11 in the UK, and is currently screening on the National Screen Institute’s Online Short Film Festival

Quote from Director’s Notes
“And you Keep Going is an odd, unusual, truly original film, that was, without doubt, my favourite short film of Filmstock 2009… if it is actually possible to embody the spirit of independent, alternative cinema within a 17 minute duration, then this is it.”
