Sheila Ganz, MA,is director/producer/editor of the documentary-in-progress Moms Living Clean. This feature film traces the three year journey of six substance using mothers in an innovative treatment program struggling to keep their children defying stigma and drug laws. Ganz’s first documentary is the 56 minute film Unlocking the Heart of Adoption (2003). Screened at film festivals and adoption conferences worldwide. Launched on public television (2005). Distributed to adoption agencies and colleges worldwide. Ganz created a Discussion Guide and three hour Curriculum on the Issues of Loss and Identity for educational purposes. Ganz is an activist for adult adoptee rights testifying before the California House Judiciary Committee, writing legislators across the country, and television and radio appearances. Awarded the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institutes Angels in Adoption Award (2006). Ganz taught Making Your First Documentary and Visualizing Your Documentary at Film Arts Foundation (2004-2007). Wrote two stage plays Pretend It Didnt Happen about her experience of relinquishing her daughter for adoption (1984), and Leaving Joe about domestic violence (1986). BA in Sculpture (1982), MA in Interdisciplinary Arts (1985), San Francisco State University.
