A low-budget guerrilla film specialist, Miles Maker is known for his edgy character-driven stories and organic style of direction through improvisation and experimentation with his Actors.
Maker couldn’t afford film school, so he applied for a skills development training grant from Screen West Midlands in 2005. He attended Raindance Films in London and was determined to become a Director.
Maker produced and directed “Lark & Cher,” his first short film, which premiered at Black Filmmaker Magazine’s International Film Festival in London. The film received an honorable mention at the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival in Atlanta and aired for two weeks on “The Best Shorts,” a popular show offering the best in Black independent short films on BETJ, a cable television subsidiary of Viacom, Inc.
