Hi all,

I am writing from Prague, Czech Republic right now. It’s as beautiful and special here as I knew it would be. I’m a film school graduate from Los Angeles.

We are here working on my first feature film, and we’re looking for additional financing. We’re mainly looking for investors, but we thought we’d give IndieGoGo a try.

The film is called Mermaid.

We’ve already had two custom cameras built, nearly all the audio equipment, and more crew ready to pay their way to come work on the film with us here.

To my knowledge, this is to be the second feature film ever made on super 8. Instead of typical super 8 in TV dimensions (43), we are using max 8?, which is cinematic dimension (169). This allows for a true HD scan and a professional film festival run.

Mermaid is a strange story about a girl with the (real) medical condition Sirenomelia, which is also called Mermaid Syndrome. It entails the legs being fused together, making them resemble a mermaids tail. Because of this condition, she is immobile, and she is placed into a situation from which she cant escape, creating the phenomenon of a hothouse film a film taking place mainly in one location. This single location greatly helps to keep the budget under control.

I believe its important to make my first movie on a low budget. Many directors are incapable of doing so (for a feature film), simply because they never have. I’m so excited just to…see the finished film. It’s a movie I really want to watch, myself. If you like, you can see some of my previous movies here;.

I’m looking for an additional $12,000 to complete principal photography. I feel that this is not extravagant or underwhelming, but realistic. This covers everything from film, transportation and lodging of crew, camera equipment, costumes ($$$), and casting expenses. We will also be enlisting the help of Czech film students as interns, and working with people we know from local film studios.

Okay, after talking on it so much I can’t wait to get back to work on this movie now.
