What Were Trying to Do:

 

Please help us promote our brand new CD Building This House so the world can hear it!  Because, if a CD falls in the forest and no one hears itits just a fancy coaster.  And the world does not need another safe place to set their drink.

 

What Weve Done So Far:

 

One band, two children, three states and many miles later, its time to release a new CD. Building This House is my 5^th CD. I have been so fortunate to have recorded and released 4 CDs completely independent of major label support (go, go, indie!!), but I certainly didnt do it alone. My music would not exist without you.  Your listening, your open heart, your willing spirit has drawn it out of me onto the page, into the space and finally onto the disc. Youve been with me every step of the way: buying CDs, spreading the word, showing up at gigs, screaming the lyrics when too many miles on the road wiped them from my brain, carrying my gear when the strain of touring literally broke my back, even driving me from gig to gig when my trusty tour-mobile lost its get up and go.  No, my music would not exist without you.

 

And now, after 9 months buried in the studio rehearsing, recording, mixing and mastering, Im ready to birth another CD that could never have been conceived without you. Building This House arrived on my doorstep last week. Like any creative endeavor, its been a roller coaster of hope, self-doubt, passion and painful letting go, but here I am ready to share it with the world

 

What We Need to Do:

 

I am not asking for your help to finish making this record.  Peter and I have put every ounce of energy (that is, whats leftover after raising two kids!) and most of our pennies into that part already. I am asking for your support to truly birth this record it wants to arrive in the world kicking and screaming! We are planning a full out cyber promotion campaign to target internet radio, podcasts and blogs as well as a traditional radio campaign that will expand our fan base around the world.

 

How We Plan to Do It:

 

If we reach our goal of $6,795 we will be able to create a 12 month marketing strategy, run a 4 month hard hitting cyber campaign with Ariel Cyber PR  ($2795), and promote to CMJ top 200 radio with a push for playlists and charting ($4000). I believe servicing the record in this way will introduce these new songs (as well as some youve known and loved for years) to a broader audience, and help us make the giant leap from music hall to auditorium; personal ipod to popular podcast, and maybe even Subaru to tour bus!!  If we raise less than our goal, we will run an awesome but shorter cyber campaign and radio campaign, but we will still promote the heck out of this record!!  If we raise more than our goal (fingers crossed!) the excess funds will go toward a 6 month campaign targeting music supervisors and directors of licensing ($3000) that we have all ready to roll!

 

How You Can Make It Happen:

 

I hope youll take a look at the different levels of giving and the perks that go with them and make a donation. Im asking you to help me reach my goal so Building This House can reach the world!  At the very least, you can receive a pre-release signed copy of the new CD (hot off the presses) long before its available to the general public (January 2012).  You can also earn a house concert, a songwriting coaching session (for just you or for you and a room full of friends!), or even your very own song written with great gratitude just for you. 

 

Why You Might Want to Help Make it Happen:

 

I started making music when, Matti, my fianc, died.  Some of you knew him.  Some of you knew of him.  Some of you met him in my songs.  They were his new shoes.  I picked up Mattis guitar and began playing music because it kept him in my life until I was ready to let go.  I didnt know any songs so I wrote my own.  Making music was how I survived the biggest loss in my life to date.  I played though sorrow, denial, anger and acceptance.  I came out on the other side of grief ready to begin again.

 

Today, with my loving, supportive and ridiculously talented husband by my side and my tour-savvy children strapped into their car seats behind me, I am embarking on a new journey.  Building This House celebrates the joy of creating a whole new thing.

 

I think the songs on this CD can make a difference in the world.
