Status
Married and Counting is a documentary about a same-sex couple who celebrate 25 years together by getting married in every state that will let them.
Whether or not we reach our funding goal, this movie will get finished and seen, but a small contribution from you will just make it so much easier.
The movie is nearly done. We have a locked cut that we are submitting to festivals. We are now seeking funds to cover the final sound mix, color timing, a celebrity voiceover artist, some additional licensing, and to help promote the finished film.
The Story
Pat and Stephen have lived the vows of marriage for 25 years, but since 44 states and the federal government refuse to acknowledge their relationship, they embark on an interstate journey, getting married in all the states that will let them, to show that their marriage counts. The film is part road-trip, part political protest, and all love story.
Their endeavor already has caught the attention of The New York Times (click here to read). The documentary aims to bring their story to the widest audiences possible.
The Filmmaker
Allan Piper previously directed the award-winning indie comedy Starving Artists, which the Boston Globe called one of "the best films you've probably never seen." He is formerly the Senior Editor for BBC New York and has cut numerous shows for ABC, Bravo, MTV, TLC, Discovery, and Food Network.
Stephen and Pat undertook this journey to make a statement that all people deserve equal rights and no one should be denied the right to marry the person they love. By contributing even a few dollars, you are helping make that statement.
