When their guru dies in a hiking accident, six strangers on a spiritual retreat find themselves hunted by their own fears and delusions … no one saves them.
It is a graphic, unflinching depiction of six people’s inner demons. Ultimately, the film serves as a meditation on desire, delusion and death – resolving in rebirth and redemption (perhaps a first for a horror film).
MANTRA is based on the director’s personal experiences practicing bardo death state mediations on a ten-day silent retreat with Buddhist monks in Dharamsala, India in 1998.
Principal photography was completed in mid-November 2008. Mantra is currently in post-production – to be completed in Spring 2009.
