WHAT IS THE LOVEWELL PROJECT?

The Hub: urban ministries in Shreveport, LA, (thehubministry.com) is in the business of loving and serving the poor in our city.  Our ministry is designed to meet people WHERE THEY ARE and love them for WHO THEY ARE.  We exist to love the poor through meeting physical needs...but more than that...we aim to show them the love of Jesus and the life that is possible only through Him.  We believe that everyone in poverty is capable of life change.  We want to see the people we serve walking in freedom and joy as whole individuals.  We want to give them their dignity back through community and friendship. 

The Hub currently has a day-shelter for the homeless in our downtown called The Basement.  The Basement is a place for people to find refuge, get out of the weather, wash their clothes, take a shower and have a safe place to call their own. 

The problem with The Basement is :  WE ARE OUT OF SPACE!  Every day that our doors open, we grow in number.  We are completely MAXED out with no more space.

We found a building in downtown Shreveport that is 10,000 square feet!!  (that's huge for us)  It is in incredible condition and is PERFECT for the visions and the dreams that The Hub has for the people we serve.

The Lovewell Project is about MAKING THAT DREAM BECOME REALITY!!! 

The Lovewell Project is about allowing The Hub the resources it takes to LOVE the poor, and to LOVE THEM WELL!  We believe in giving the best of the best to those in need.  We are not about giving our left overs. 

This new building would change our ministry's future and in turn change countless lives.

We need the space to do the following:

1.  Bigger day shelter for the homeless

2.  Space to serve healthy well balanced meals

3.  Space to do programs for inner city kids

4.  Office space for our WHOLE staff

5.  A place for us to have recovery and addiction groups and programs

6.  A place for our people to sleep during extreme weather conditions

So as you can see, this building would mean the world to us!

Through giving to this project, you can be a part of making dreams come true for those in poverty in Shreveport, LA.

We have 2 months to raise $100,000.00. 

We understand that this is a ridiculous amount of money in a short amount of time, but we believe that it's NOTHING in God's economy!

Every penny that we raise will go towards the purchase of this building and it's renovations.  (all contributions are tax deductible)

If this dream becomes a reality, we will be naming the building THE LOVEWELL CENTER.  This name comes from the Album by Mercy Me, Mr. Lovewell.

The Mercy Me guys are all about challenging people to love people the way that Jesus would.  No one is exempt from the love of God, no matter what race, age or status they are.  We love that concept SO much.  God calls us to a life of love...and we want to do it with excellence.

THE LOVEWELL CENTER would be a place of refuge for those that live on the streets.  It would be a place for them to call their own.  From the paint color, to the furniture, to the rugs...every detail will be designed to give the homless one of the coolest places to hang out and become whole!
