In an eccentric, old-school laundromat, a young man is lulled into a daydream while waiting for his wash cycle to finish. Laundry is a quirky and colorful segment that juxtaposes the mundane with the magical.
Directors Statement:
A big part of my inspiration for this film was the works of Jeunet and Caro, such as their films Delicatessen and Amelie. Their use of exaggerated sound, vibrant colors and unique composition was something that I have always admired and really wanted to try in this film.
The idea for Laundry was something that grew over time. It began as just images in my head many years ago, and only recently evolved into a complete concept. I hope that it will bring the viewers attention to the beauty of detail and the power of sound, and most importantly, make them feel good.
The film was shot over two days, at Larkmead Vineyards in Calistoga (near Napa valley), and Dougs Suds Laundromat in San Francisco. We spent both days at both locations, so that we could fully take advantage of the magic hour of sunlight at the vineyard. It was an exhilarating experience, and the cast and crew had a great time.
