Lanette Phillips

About Me

 

As a distinguished Music Video Executive Producer, Phillips has spearheaded hundreds of projects for todays most illustrious artists.  Phillips resume includes marquee names such as U2, Aerosmith, Eminem, Usher, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Muse and Gwen Stefani.

 

Getting her start in the business as a music journalist, Phillips became associated with author and Doors manager Danny Sugerman.  This period was marked with many high profile projects including collaborating with Sugerman on "The Doors" feature film as well as two of his best-selling books.  She then worked with former Door's drummer John Densmore on his autobiography, "Riders on the Storm."  Shortly after this time, Phillips teamed up with Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) and 60's icon Timothy Leary on the innovative web magazine, Teeth. 

 

The early 2000s saw Phillips successfully starting and Executive Producing the music video division for Jonathon Ker & Joni Sighvatssons Palomar Pictures.  Here, Phillips continued to shape her resume with a myriad of artists including Black Eyed Peas, Moby, Weezer, The Foo Fighters, Tom Petty, Faith Hill and many more. Prior to Palomar, Phillips worked with Producer Neal Moritz (The Fast and the Furious, Click & I Am Legend) as Executive Producer for Original Films.

 

In 2004 Phillips teamed with Lawrence Bender (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol: 1 & 2," "Inglorious Bastards") to launch A Band Aparts management division. At this time Phillips represented feature directors Quentin Tarantino, Darren Aronofsky, John Landis and Todd Solondz for music videos. 

 

2005 Phillips Co-Produced her first indie feature Love Is The Drug which was selected into the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival.

 

2010 Phillips was Supervising Producer and Curator on Stand Up On Demand working with Laura Ziskin (Spider-Man, 2, 3, 4, Pretty Woman and As Good As It Gets) for Stand Up To Cancer organization founded by Ziskiin, Katie Couric and Sherry Lansing. This marked Comcasts first ever video on demand fundraising event featuring over 350 top musical artists.

 

Currently Phillips is in post-production on Buffalo Girls. A documentary which follows the lives of two 8 year old girls who muay thai fight in order to survive and support their families in rural Thailand. The making of this documentary was featured on ABCs 20/20.

 

Phillips has garnered numerous spots on advisory boards, conferences and festivals including the Sundance Film Festival, Slamdance Film Festival, USC, Billboard Music Conference, Music Video Producers Association, UCLA, South By Southwest, MTV Music Awards Conference, AFI, Icelands Airwaves and the Los Angeles Film Festival.
