Ryan Essery was born and raised in Thunder Bay,Ontario Canada, he spent a few years in Niagra Falls and then came back to Thunder Bay where he has lived to this day. Ryan always had a keen interest in computers and for years thought that was what he wanted to do, so he took courses and studied for his A+ and CCNA certifications. However, Ryan also always had an interest in movies, so he took a course on making films at his high school, Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, and loved it.
A year later he did a co-op placement at the local television station where he continued to grow and thrive. At the end of the placement Ryan was offered a part-time job there and accepted it. He was a camera and audio operator in the production department and a production assistant in the videography department. Ryan spent a total of 2 years at the station.
He has done a few productions but not nearly as many as he would have liked to. Ryan has directed and produced a 10 minute promotional piece for a local high school, as well as a short pilot to a web only cooking series. He has also written several short scripts and done lighting for live theater.
Ryan also edited a short interview piece for an organization called Face Homelessness and is also editing together webisodes for a mobile content series. Ryan has completed work on his first short film called Walking the Distance. After the short film, Ryan did some editing of conference footage for a company that specializes in the Contact Center Industry and went down to Las Vegas, Nevada to do some audio/visual work and film the world finals conference.
In the beginning of 2009 Ryan began working for the Lakehead University as their sports videographer for the basketball and volleyball games, filming for both the videos for the coaches as well as for live web broadcast for the L.U. Radio webcasts until the end of the season.
Currently Ryan is working for a local art gallery as their in-house videographer and is taking advantage of his technical background as their technical consultant as well. Ryan is also in pre-production for his first feature film: The Roommate.
