Milwaukee band Juniper Tar along with Pennsylvania artist Strand of Oaks will embark on a 10 day tour of the East Coast, and we want to document it.
We have been documenting Milwaukee’s music scene for some time and Juniper Tar has been a favorite discovery of ours. However, we need some help to make this documentary all it deserves to be.
To be perfectly honest we don’t know what’s going to happen—but we prefer it that way. What we can tell you is we will be there to capture every moment in order to share a firsthand experience of touring with a talented and promising band.
We are currently in need of equipment which will be vital in realizing our vision for this film. This is an opportunity to not only help out an independent film production, but also an amazing band of talented musicians. We currently in need of: batteries, memory cards, tripods, microphones, stabilizers and lenses. Donations and promotional help of any kind is greatly appreciated (even used equipment!). Juniper Tar is able to transform what might (at first) appear to be something folksy and/or rootsy and spin it into epic indie rock by combining layered vocal harmonies with extended instrumental passages. I hate comparing this to anyone else because these guys have a very distinct sound, but think Fleet Foxes vs. My Morning Jacket vs. Califone vs. Explosions In The Sky except more than the sum of those parts without actually having any of those parts. The songs are deceptively (and complexly) simple as they build and weave into something greater, something that just has to be heard. I imagine wind and sun through majestic pines.
