What we believe sets Jump Cut apart from other film festivals is that we try to encompass the idea that this event should be a festival for the students by students. We have a great and dedicated team this year who have been working very hard to create a unique opportunity for student filmmakers. This year’s festival is comprised of two parts: a showcase of the best submitted student works and a Q&A panel of industry professionals who will help judge the competition. 

How You Can Support Student Filmmakers

In the past filmmakers were asked to pay a submission fee. But student filmmaking isn't cheap. So this year we are waiving the submission fee for every student film entered into the festival. This means that absolutely any student can have the opportunity to showcase their skills and get feedback from the people they admire most!!!

This also means that Jump Cut is now fully funded by donations. Any money that you donate goes towards the improvement of the festival - a better event location, better projector, better sound equipment, and better prizes. As a donator you will be helping to keep this Austin tradition alive.
