James Howarth has been acting since he was 10 years old. He trained through ATYP, The Actors Center, Avon Road Studio, On camera Connections, Gala Studios and has been coached by acclaimed performers James Haygen and Sonja Tallis. He’s also educated in screen writing through coach Leanne Imber. He is a graduate of the Actors College of Theatre and Television (ACTT) in Acting and is also a graduate in Film and Television Production and Directing from North Sydney Institute.
James has acted in lead roles in numerous successful stage productions, both modern and classic. He has also performed in new Australian stage productions where he also received credit in publicity and production.
James is a member of Actors Equity, and has been a member of Australia’s performing artists union, the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) since 1995.
Having consistently landed film and television roles since 1995, James has additionally won roles in television commercials, including major campaigns for Telstra (Australia’s largest telecommunications provider), Family Day (national advertising campaign), Global One Communications, and Lift Soft Drink (a Coca-Cola brand in Australia). He was also chosen to model for the first hand-held PDAs in the 1990s.
