About Me

Jarrod C. Austin has always been interested in cinema. During his teen years he shot short films on the family video camera making his own lighting and special effects from various items he found around his home. Raised in a military family, he spent most of his youth traveling across the globe with his family to places like Singapore, Japan, and Korea. Just prior to his senior year in high school his family settled in Denver, Colorado. During this time he enrolled in a video production course and produced his first documentary and short animation. Following the completion of his first project, Jarrods love for filmmaking was deepened. After a casual, yet thought-provoking, conversation with his mother who told him to follow his passion, his desire to be a filmmaker was solidified. Jarrod then went on to the University of Colorado Denver, attending the Colorado Film School and he graduated with his BFA with an emphasis in Cinematography and Videography.

In early 2008, leaving the security of family and community to further enhance his proficiency in the art of filmmaking, Jarrod moved from Denver to Atlanta, Georgia. Since that time, Jarrod has worked on numerous feature films The Torturer and Saints and Sinners to name a few, learning the ins and outs of film production alongside many seasoned veterans. He has also worked as an independent contractor on music videos, commercials, EPKs, promo videos, and a host of national television series. In 2009 Jarrod finished production on his post college directorial debut Seven Minute Rush which went on to win the Best Shortie Short Film at the 8th Edition Urban Mediamakers Film Festival.

Jarrod continues to call Atlanta his home while constantly striving to perfect all of the nuances and complexities of his beloved art form. He is currently working on his next film project Divulgence which is set to begin shooting in 2011.
