Perpetual Burn: The Story of Jason Becker is a new feature-length documentary film about the legendary guitar hero, Jason Becker; a guitarist and musical prodigy who, at just 19 and on the brink of stardom, was diagnosed with ALS, a rare terminal illness, and given just 3-5 years to live. Twenty years later, and without the ability to move or speak, he continues to compose music, note by note, with his eyes.
Jason's music is recorded by some of the world's greatest guitarists & musicians and his songs are an inspiration to millions of people around the world including a new generation of guitar players.
THE FILM
The film will feature interviews with Jason, his family and friends, and many of the amazing musicians hes worked with over the years and will tell the whole untold story. There will be plenty of great Jason Becker performance footage from his shred guitar years with Cacophony through to his solo work, as well as tons of unseen footage and unreleased music from the Becker archives.

WHY WE NEED THE FUNDING
All funds raised via IndieGoGo will go toward the production of the film which began in November 2010 and will continue throughout 2011. This includes travel and accommodation for our small film crew, camera & lighting equipment rental, camera stock and insurance. We will later be fundraising separately for rights clearances for news broadcasts, archival footage and music as well as for post-production, animation work, sound mixing and language translation.
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
We are making this film for Jason. We want to be able to bring his music and spirit to the rest of the world and film is a very powerful way of doing this. With your support, we can make a film that can screen at film festivals and cinemas all over the world opening up new possibilities not just for Jason, but for other sufferers of ALS. It's important that people are made aware of this disease but also to show that people with ALS can still live fulfilling lives and do amazing things.
We are supported by the Les Turner ALS Foundation, the ALS Film Fund, the MND Association, ALS TDI and the ALS Association.

The film will be translated into over 10 languages including Spanish, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Turkish and Indonesian.

* ABOUT JASON BECKER
Jason Becker (born
July 22, 1969) is an American neo-classical metal guitarist and composer. At
the age of 16, he became part of the Mike Varney-produced duo Cacophony with
his friend Marty Friedman. They released 'Speed Metal Symphony' in
1987 and 'Go Off!' in 1988. Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Jason
began doing solo work, having released his first album 'Perpetual Burn' in
1988 and recording two songs with Marty Friedman on Freidman's solo album, 'Dragon's
Kiss'. He later joined David Lee Roth's band and recorded one album with him, 'A
Little Ain't Enough'.
However Jason's success was hampered by his then-diagnosed Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis (also known as MND and Lou Gehrig's Disease) and was given just three
to five years to live. In 1996, Jason eventually lost the ability to speak and
now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father, Gary
Becker. Despite his disability, he continues composing music with his eyes and
with a sight tracking computer system. Jason has released several albums in
