Growing up in Silver Spring, MD, John Arlotto spent much time in the nearby art museums of Washington, D.C. where he surrounded himself with the works of great artists and visual depictions of religion and myth. Mr. Arlotto won several art
awards while in high school and went on to attend Cornell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in painting.
After graduation Mr. Arlotto moved to New York City where he took New York Universities introductory film class. Mr. Arlotto worked as the art director for the highly acclaimed independent feature film Habit before returning to D.C. where he worked as an editor for high-end industrial videos for clients such as The United States Postal Service
and Fanny Mae. Mr. Arlotto moved to West Hollywood in 1999 where he worked steadily as a professional editor for reality television shows and industrial videos for clients such
as Honda, Mitsubishi and Kia. In December 2006 John graduated from the prestigious Art Center College of Design with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Film.
Johns highly acclaimed short film DEFACE is currently on the festival circuit and has won several awards, including 2nd Place Best Live Action Over 15 minutes at the Palm Springs International Festival of Shorts and Best Narrative Short at the Austin Film Festival, which qualifies DEFACE for Oscar consideration. Most recently John directed the short film Wounded, written by Gloria Calderon Kellett, the award-nominated writer
and producer of the hit television show How I Met Your Mother. Wounded is currently in post production and will hit the festival circuit next year.
John and his wife Viviane live in West Hollywood, CA where he is currently in development on his first feature film, Heart Murmur.
