THE FILM
In No Particular Order is a film that explores the difficulties of modern relationships, and the conflicting views surrounding sex, love, monogamy, and marriage. The film follows self-destructive Sarah as she messily navigates her way through her late twenties, following a path of meaningless encounters, hangovers, and unmet expectations. Under pressure from her newlywed sister to get her life together, and after an affair with a married man and a reconnection with an old fling, Sarah is forced to confront the consequences of her choices, and her shaky beliefs in the existence of real commitment.
THE BACKSTORY
I have been an actor in Vancouver for almost 10 years, and started working more behind the scenes on the production side around 4 years ago. I found that the more involved I became behind the scenes, the more I enjoyed it and wanted to explore it further. I have since worked on independent film projects as a producer, art director, and production assistant, among various other roles. On the acting side of things, I was becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of material and characters that I could identify with, and I realized that I had been presented a choice. Stop complaining, or try to create something for myself. I wanted to write something that was relevant, something I would want to perform in, to go see. As I got farther along in the writing process, I knew that I wanted to make the film a reality. As massive an undertaking as it is, I feel like I have come to a point where I have an amazing network of people around me- industry peers, mentors, friends, family- that make it a complete possibility. The right time.
I will be making this film with the guidance and help of filmmaker Terry Miles. For more information about him, and previous projects we have worked on, visit his website, www.cinemanovel.com.
THE MONEY
This film can be made on very small budget, and with with minimal equipment and crew. As a first time filmmaker, it is very difficult to get funding, grants, etc, and I could end up waiting years. So, I am funding the project entirely on my own... which is why I need help. Even on the smallest budget, there are still certain aspects that will require a fair bit of spending. This campaign is to raise the money needed to get the film shot. Specifically, here is what I need the bulk of the funding for
FOOD
ACTORS WAGES
CREW WAGES/EQUIPMENT RENTAL
LOCATIONS
INSURANCE and UNION FEES.
I am expecting this film to require a budget of approx. $25,000.
THE FINEPRINT
The film is absolutely getting made, so please rest assured that any money donated will be used regardless of whether the above funding goal is met or not. Additionally, there is no cut off to the fundraising if the above goal is met. I have realistically set my fundraising goal at roughly half of what I believe it will take to make this film, and so would be absolutely overjoyed if it is met and exceeded.
You may donate anonymously, if you prefer.
If my fundraising goal is met, IndieGoGo will take only a 4% fee. If it is not met, they retain 9%. I am set up and verified to receive payment through PayPal, but they take a small processing fee, so credit cards are a better option whenever possible.
If you would feel more comfortable donating to me in person, or if you have any questions at all, you can reach me at inpofilm@gmail.com
If you are not comfortable donating money, there are other ways you can help!
I will be looking for filming LOCATIONS:
BARS / RESTAURANTS / APARTMENTS / HOUSES / CAFES / COFFEESHOPS / B&B, INN, GUESTHOUSE OR HOTEL / AN OUTDOOR WEDDING VENUE
Other helpful items:
OFFICE SPACE / FOOD DONATIONS / EQUIPMENT DONATIONS / ON CAMERA EXTRAS
And of course, the easiest way to help:
SHARE! Post this link it on your facebook, your twitter, myspace, blog. Tell your friends. Spread the word.
