Our Story
Who: I'm
N.E. Francis, a national arts & entertainment journalist, and I'd like to tell you a little about myself and my new book,
In Her Words: 25 Interviews with Kick-Ass Women in Arts & Entertainment.
As an A & E journalist and celebrity interviewer for over 15 years, I've met and spoken with some of our generation's most vibrant, important and insanely talented people. But there are a group of women artists--nearly 30 singers, writers, actors, musicians and more--who are so smart, so gifted and so incredibly relevant, that America really needs to know more about them.
In Her Words contains my top 25 favorite interviews with outstanding women artists of today, including interviews with singer/songwriter
Linda Perry, feminist playwright
Carolyn Gage, film maker
Katherine Brooks, artist/poet
Dr. Marie Cartier and authors
Linda Andersson and
Sara Marx, and music group
Sugarbeach, among many others. Each interview and woman chosen for In Her Words has either inspired me, challenged me or flat-out changed my life's trajectory. I believe that their stories will do the same for you.

What: In Her Words: 25 Interviews with Kick-Ass Women in Arts & Entertainment is a hand-picked collection of interviews by National Progressive Arts & Entertainment reporter N. E. Francis with some of the most talented, cutting-edge women in arts and entertainment today--and why you should get to know them. The author shares her private thoughts on each interview and when it happened, plus how each artist inspired and transformed her.
In Her Words also contains exclusive, dramatic art by award-winning Minneapolis artist, Jeremy Enslow, that will blow our readers away.
When: In Her Words will be published by September 1, 2011 or earlier, depending on the fruits of this fundraising campaign. The more donations, the sooner the book will be published and released. Let's make it happen!
The Impact:
First and foremost, it is my intention and deepest hope that In Her Words will engage, inspire and change the trajectory of many readers' lives, as well as turn you on to some "kick-ass" women and their art.
A portion of the net proceeds from In Her Words will also be privately donated to various women's and LGBT charities that inspire the author and artist.

What We Need & What You Get:
Publishing a book takes two things: Hard Work and Finance. With your donations and our hard work, In Her Words: 25 Interviews with Kick-Ass Women in Arts & Entertainment will be a best-selling book and artistic resource for insanely talented women.
We have estimated our fund raising goal of $5,000 for the following publishing needs and other unforeseen expenses that arise:

We will also update this page with weekly In Her Words book project goals--physical and financial.
If we do not meed our funding goal, we will hold bake sales, run errands and have car washes in our driveways in order to finish raising the capital to publish this ground-breaking book. Every person who donated will receive their donor goodies, even if we fall short of the campaign total.
What will happen if we go over and beyond our initial goal of $5,000? We'd love to put the cash towards an official book launch that EVERY PERSON WHO FINANCIALLY CONTRIBUTED will receive an invite to attend or to one of our favorite charities (depending on overage amount). Pretty cool, huh?
