Directors Abigail and Naomi DeHaan have brainstormed together on movie projects for over seven years. As a sister team, they have a dynamic working relationship, bouncing ideas off each other like so many wads of paper. Raised and homeschooled in a Christian family, they operate from a Judeo-Christian worldview.

Raised in the beautiful bluegrass of Kentucky, Naomi and Abby knew they wanted to make films early on in life.

Abby first discovered her love of filmmaking when her older brother, Jonathan, bought a MiniDV camera to play with. Her first video project was an ambitious three-camera shoot of St. Luke United Methodist’s spring children’s musical. Eager to learn more, Abby left home for a year-long video internship with a Christian ministry based in Chicago, IL.

Her love of writing came even before this, when she watched her Mom begin writing a novel. Years of writing, from short stories to a full-length screenplay, gave Abby experience in developing characters and story arcs. Experience led to quality when a talented writing friend from church mentored Abby and Naomi in skillful storytelling.

Naomi has always been a drama queen. From acting in family skits, to starring in the local children’s theater performance of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Naomi has loved enchanting audiences with stories of the heart. She took her love of acting and applied it to directing when it became clear that she had a talent for drawing believable performances out of others.

In addition to being the actor’s director, Naomi also writes poetry. She recently self-published her first anthology, binding and gluing the books by hand. Writing poetry gave her the confidence to complete a feature-length script, Secret Place of Thunder.
