Our Story
We are a group of guerrilla filmmakers out of the Philadelphia and Southeastern Pennsylvania area. We have been making films for several years under the name of Swine Films, and Hylo is our second feature film.
The idea for the picture was conceived in early spring of 2011, and the script was completed by June. Pre-production occurred in early summer, and production began on July 31st, 2011. The film was shot over 9 days and we wrapped on August 14th, 2011.
This feature length film was shot by a handful of promising young filmmakers led by director and co-writer Carman Spoto.
We are looking for donations to help finish post-production of Hylo before February of 2012, in order to submit the film for a line of 2012 film festivals.
The Impact
With this film we hope to achieve professionalism with guerrilla style shooting and budget. We wanted to be able to show the setting of the film, a setting which has been our homeland for our entire lives. We needed to be able to characterize the woods that surround us daily in Southeastern Pennsylvania, and the best way to do that was indeed to make them a character.
What We Need & What You Get
Self funding allowed us to cover production costs, but we now need money to pay for the post-production costs of the film. We need to pay for editing, sound mixing, score composing, coloring, and visual effects.
All of these things can start to cost a pretty penny, and we would appreciate the opportunity to compensate the artists working on this film, as best we can.
The secondary part of the budget will go to advertising and film festival fees. We need to be able to purchase posters, flyers, internet advertisements, and post-cards to help promote the film. We also need money to finance the film festival submission fees for the multiple film festivals that we plan to run Hylo in.
For donating, we are offering many great perks. Everything from a credit on our website, to an Executive Producer credit for the film. We are also offering signed posters, stickers, and other promotional materials.
