Once again, thank you for every single person supported us, including The Nottingham Evening Post and Grantham Journal for covering the story.

Our Story

Hello, my name is Iryna Muha. Almost 10 years ago I lost my father Iouri Mouchiski in the North Tower of the World Trade Centre in 9/11 terrorist attacks.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 we are creating a music video for one of our songs - the Russian folk song Kaby Vedala If I Only Knew. The lyrics of the song are connected with the folk wisdom of Life and Death but also represent my personal journey, which was affected by the events on 9/11, Ground Zero.

9/11 2001 changed the world, but also it transformed the life of my family and took me on a journey full of pain, loneliness and despair.

In 2003 I ran away from NY and came to England in search of a new life. Through emotional battles and tears, trusting my heart and following my dreams, I came a long way to finally become stronger and wiser, just as my father taught me to be.

Here in Nottingham I formed an Eastern European New Roots band - MuHa. I sing  about my experiences. Life is a journey, with all its weirdness and craziness and pain ... But there is hope and light for those  who strive to keep their head out of the dark well and have the courage to look up.

For me this project is some kind of a closure but also a new beginning and tribute to lives lost and dreams followed. I hope you can relate to it  in your own way and if you do, would like to be a part of it.

What we need and What you get

We need to raise $ 2,500 to cover the production costs. This includes hiring the equipment, travel, three days of shooting , production, DVD duplication and marketing. Have a look at the perks we offer on the right hand side. We will start mailing them 2 weeks before the release date of July 4th 2011. All the money raised above the target will go towards MuHa's next collaborative music video in collaboration with Chinese animators.

The full song can be listened here (click on the note sign to open the player)

Synopsis

We deliberately decided to stay away from the usual 9/11 related imagery as we wanted to talk about humanity, but not about the terrorist act.

Awakening outside on a cold winter morning, the grey and white sky looms quietly, and the rising fog rides overhead of the silk grass blades, that glisten with due. The subdued winter morning is a representation for the characters misery, as she knows her time of coming is at an end. So she begins her last part of her journey to seek the answers, which will prepare her body and soul in live after death.

Our character is never seen walking or moving through her journey, only the places that she travels through will change. These surroundings represent her past, which at the start looks enigmatic, with a cold feeling of regret. As she journeys through her landscape, her past is forgotten, and in prayer she finds comfort and warmth (which is represented within aesthetics of video).

Location- the Peak District, Derbyshire, UK

Lyrics

Kaby Vedala ( Kaby Vedala rus)

If I only knew when my time
Would come to go
And come to you
Oh Lord, my dear dear Lord,

I would buy a plot in
the graveyard
Oh Lord, my dear dear Lord

And I would lie myself at rest
and my soul would fly away
to you my Lord, my dear dear God
I know I have been a lot of trouble
for you Lord, Oh my dear dear Lord

Oh, silk of grass
Oh silver dew
Shining bright
Rise and Shine

Oh Lord, take me from
The heaven down to the ground
Oh Lord, my dear Lord

From heaven to dear earth,
Lying on golden sands
Its Heaven on Earth

Oh Lord, my dear Lord
If I only knew..

(Russian folk song) Adaptation by Kapka Nilan

The Journey from the Ground Zero & the kiling of Osama Bin Laden

We are more then half way through the Journey from the Ground Zero music video project, but we still do not have sufficient support we hoped for. When I started this campaign I didnt apprehend the fact that I would find it difficult to actively promote such a personal thing- the only way such projects can be a success. Leaving promotion aside, I just wanted to share some thoughts with you in response to the recent events.

With the killing of Osama Bin Laden conveniently just before the 10th anniversary of 9//11 we see people cheering overwhelmed with joy as if we celebrate some sort of goodness. They say Bin Laden killed my father, but I dont feel any joy about him being dead at the bottom of the sea. I feel indifferent- what other outcome could had been for him but a violent death; and does it really change anything? It makes me very sad however that the consciousness of our planet is so wicked and aggressive.

To pick up a sword or to walk the path of peace- it is a personal choice. I can almost hear objections from the readers somebody has to fight to defend the peace; but on the other hand- if everybody chooses peace- there is nobody to fight with

If you believe that emotions and thoughts are the subtle energy that, giving enough saturation, always transforms to the physical world in a shape of circumstances and events, then following the path of non judgemental acceptance and peace in your thoughts and actions is an obvious choice.

So, I refuse to join the medieval celebrations of the killing and sending a message of peace and love to you all.

If you wanted to contribute towards the Journey from the Ground Zero project to commemorate the lost lives in 9/11 , dont put it for later, show your support now.

Love and peace,
Iryna
