It is 2003. After a long, difficult series of legal proceedings, climbers from Pacific Lumber physically extract nearly a dozen ‘sitters’ from a grove of ancient redwood trees slated to be clearcut. The events leading to the extraction leave much to be debated, from the county residents who suffer the ecological effects of the local logging practices, to the District Attorney who takes sides against Pacific Lumber, putting his own job at stake when they back a sudden recall election. The real issue at hand is not logging – it is unchecked corporate greed, as the evidence we present will reveal. In the 90’s, a certain tycoon acquired Pacific Lumber and made it his business to inflate the company’s value by overlogging, and liquidate those trees as ‘assets’
Solutions to some of these issues are right around the corner.

We have exclusive footage from the events that transpired in 2003, as well as in-depth interviews with all the key characters in the drams. This film will have the assistance of agents and subcontractors, that will add to the quality and success of this feature

This first phase of fundraising will cover the cost of Production. Post-Production fundraising will follow later in the year! |

The QuiTam trial for the fraud in the “Headwaters Agreement” perpetrated by Pacific Lumber and Maxxam international has been settled! Charles Hurwitz and his lawyers have agreed to settle out of court in the first week of what was projected to be a three-week trial. In the coming weeks, we may yet still make the trek to Humboldt county for our scheduled pickup photography. Watch this space for our trailer! |

We have incorporated the film this week, and will set up the neccesary arrangements to begin accepting contributions to the film! We’ve added a few new media to the page, as well as a link to an article in the S.F. Chronicle about the upcoming Trail of Maxxam CEO Charles Hurwitz.
