About Me

Frank Mosley is an award winning director, writer, editor, and actor from Texas. He attended The University of Texas at Arlington on a grant, where he received a BA in English and a minor in film. His final project, BALLS IN THE ICEBOX, snagged one of the top prizes at his last student festival and was showcased at the Dallas Museum of Art in 2004. Frank was one of four students selected to represent UTA in a 2005 ad campaign, his voice heard on radio spots and his face seen on billboards across all of North Texas.

His first feature film HOLD, a minimalist psychodrama, was a 2010 Venice Days candidate and IFP Narrative Labs Top 20 Finalist, and has played at various U.S. festivals after its premiere at the 2010 Dallas International Film Festival. It went on to win The Sleeping Giant Award at the 2010 Kent Film Festival and The Audience Award at the 2010 Glen Rose Neo Relix Film Festival before being selected as the only 2010 film inclusion for the prestigious Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, where an essay on the making of the film was published in its annual journal. Deemed “one of the best films of 2010” (Cinemalogue), “a practically flawless piece of filmmaking” (Pegasus News), “bold, stark, and unflinching” (Cinehouse UK), and “daring and well made” (Gordon and the Whale), Hold had its theatrical premiere in early 2011 at the ReRun Theater in Brooklyn, NYC.

He was a juror for the 2009 Dallas Video Festival, a panelist for the 2007/2011 Lone Star International Film Festival, and has talked about his films on NPR and GOOD MORNING TEXAS. He has guest lectured on acting/directing in Texas at the esteemed KD Conservatory and Studio, Screen FX Academy, and Colin County Community College’s RTVF program. He is also an advisory board member for Fifth Column Features. His showcased short films and music videos are available for viewing on MUBI, including the multi award winning films LITTLE BOY (2007 Dark Horse Fest-Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress and Best Editing; FW WEEKLY Culture Column Award Recipient) and LEAVE (2008 Mid Valley Video Fest-Best Narrative Short nominee). His most recent short installation video, I COULD LIVE IN HOPE, was invited to play on looped exhibition in February 2011 at the 500X Gallery in Dallas. He is currently in post on his second feature film, the experimental drama HER WILDERNESS, of which his 2009 stage play version, HOT/COLD, was declared “groundbreaking” (FW WEEKLY) and “an event not to be missed” (PEGASUS NEWS) during its limited run at the Four Day Weekend Theater in Ft. Worth, TX.

As a 2002 Betty Buckley Performance Finalist, a recipient of the 2002 Who’s Who in Theater Award (directing/acting), and an actor represented by Linda McAlister Talent, he’s appeared in Clay Liford’s WUSS (AFI-Audience Award, SXSW 2011), James M. Johnston’s KNIFE (SARASOTA 2011), and Shane Carruth's highly anticipated sci-fi drama, UPSTREAM COLOR.  He also won great reviews (VARIETY, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, SMELLS LIKE SCREEN SPIRIT, PEGASUS NEWS) and a Best Supporting Actor nomination (AOF Fest, 2009) for his portrayal of ex-con skinhead Jamie Hewitt Jr. in Justin D. Hilliard’s award-winning THE OTHER SIDE OF PARADISE, which played over 30 festivals around the US and is now available for viewing on iTunes through Distribber. He was nominated for Best Actor for Thomas Lumpkin’s short SANCTUARY at the 2003 Underexposed Film Festival and won Best Supporting Actor (as well as Best Original Screenplay) for his turn in Ashley Hall’s short RELATION at the 2007 Dark Horse Film Festival. He first garnered attention with a lead role in the Telly-winning 2004 short SEPARATED BY LIGHT, which premiered on PBS and won awards at international festivals after receiving a grant from the Texas Commission of the Arts. Frank’s set to star in Tony Brownrigg’s post apocalyptic drama ARCHAIC REDEMPTION and Frederick Trevino's ensemble hotel drama THE PEASANT.  He was recently featured as a cutthroat businessman alongside Sundance fave Robert Longstreet (“Pineapple Express”, “Take Shelter”) in Eric Steele’s short CORK'S CATTLEBARON and as a chain-smoking pornographer in Dylan Pasture and Jules Bartowski's New Orleans mini-series for web entitled ALOUETTE. He can also be seen fall 2012 in a villainous guest star role on the new ABC comedy series GHOSTBREAKERS.
