I’m a young journalist, and I guess entrepreneur. Wanting to help bring magazines into the digital age and offer consumers something new, fresh, and most importantly, free, I set up Fan the Fire Magazine (started some 5 years ago as LOAD Magazine, it’s come a long way since then), found at www.fanthefiremagazine.com.
The magazine offers something different and an independent take on film, music, art and style, where the big corporate magazines fall down, doing all they can to please record labels and movie studios with more than favourable reviews.
Everything to date has been done off my own back and has had no funding from outside sources, just blood, sweat and tears put into the magazine by myself during University and still now after I recently graduated.
We have a small team but want to take the production up a notch and build on our innovative iPhone app and plans for a printed anthology, coffee table book style issue at the end of the year.
We need help fund the magazine’s development and make that big step into the major public domain. We want to branch out with a range of Fan the Fire art prints and t-shirts, collaborating with some of our contributors and help build the brand, while also move into the music and film production areas, which will give us the chance to thank backers in a number of ways.
