Who Doesn't Love Dirty Dancing?!?! The Dirty Dancing Festival has made big waves by helping charities, supporting a local economy in need, and bringing the magic of movie back to its fans in the film's original location! However we need your help to keep it going...
Our Story
In September of 2010 we debuted the first ever Dirty Dancing Festival, in beautiful Lake Lure North Carolina, where much of the classic movie was filmed. Live bands performed, everyone learned new dance moves, money was raised for charity, and the press LOVED the event both here in the US and abroad (12 international journalists attended the festival!). There was a lakeside film screening, a daytime family dance festival, and a sold out 'Time of Your Life' Gala. It was truly a magical weekend! The Second Annual Dirty Dancing Festival at Lake Lure is scheduled for the weekend of September 16-18, 2011, but we are in danger of having to drastically scale back or even cancel the festival. Doing so could be detrimental to the future of the festival and all of the businesses and charities it benefits!

The Impact
While the press and the attendees loved the festival this past year, the real success came in many local hotels being booked and restaurants and shops seeing customers during a time of year where many may have otherwise been forced to close. Lake Lure is a wonderful destination for tourism and much of the local economy depends upon it. In addition to
helping a local economy in need during this economic downturn, funds were raised at the festival to support
Hospice of Rutherford County, the Foundation Performing Arts Center at
Isothermal College, and the Lake Lure Youth Center.
And lastly, it's DIRTY DANCING! This festival is the only one of its kind and everyone LOVES this movie! This festival has brought the magical memory of this movie to life! Help us keep the spirit alive at this festival so thousands more can enjoy it year after year!
This festival is not only special to the community of Lake Lure and the attendees who love the film, but it also has the potential to build over the coming years into a major arts and music festival and serve as a large-scale fundraiser for various charities! 2012 will mark the 25th anniversary of the movie Dirty Dancing, and we already have the support of Lionsgate Films, the North Carolina Tourism Board, the original writer of the movie, Eleanor Bergstein, and many more cast and crew from the film!
However with all of the success, publicity, attendees, and support by big names, we still need cash to produce this festival. If we can't make it happen this year, there may be no 25th anniversary and no future for this festival and its charities.
What We Need
This campaign is to raise $5,000 (though we'd really love to raise $7,500) to produce the lakeside screening portion of the Dirty Dancing Festival, and we'll be able to keep this portion of the weekend FREE to attend!
Production Costs for the Lakeside Screening:
Outdoor movie screen/generator rentals: $3,000
Printed Materials (banners, signs): $500
Lighting: $600
Tenting for charities/info booth: $250
Food for volunteers/volunteer parking staff: $250
Security (local police officers): $300
Supplies (rope, caution tape, safety vests,): $100
Total: $5,000
If we can raise $7,500 we could also have:
Merchandise to sell for charity benefit (water, drinks, koozies, t-shirts): $1,000 (which could raise up to $3,000 for charity from these small items alone)
Dance performers that can also teach dance lessons: $500
2 plane tickets and food per diem for the event producers: $1,000*
*This is a necessary cost that we will have to incur ourselves if it is not funded
And Just So You Know: We are working to get the following costs waived:
Permits from the city
Film rights (we are working with Lionsgate Films)
Staffing (we will use as many volunteers as we can!)
Additional entertainment (a host and a band)
Product donations (water and food for volunteers, crew, performers)
What You Get
The womens tees are PINK OR BLUE v-neck and the mens tees are BLUE scoop-neck and the koozies are BLUE! Please specify your size and color choice when you make your contribution!

How The Rest of the Weekend - We Also Need Corporate Sponsors!
We still need corporate cash sponsors to fund the rest of the weekend's events - the daytime festival, golf tournament, and lakeside concert!
We have press stats and a SPONSORSHIP PACKET available for download on our website, or contact us for information at info@jnbllc.com. We have many perks to offer through our many local partners in the area and we're happy to share them with nyone that can help us secure funding!
Who Are We?
This festival is produced by JNB Marketing & Events in association with the Hickory Nut Gorge Chamber of Commerce. The 2010 festival benefitted Hospice of Rutherford County, the Lake Lure Youth Center, and the Isothermal College Foundation Performing Arts Center.
If We Don't Reach Our Goal
If we don't reach our 5K goal, we will have to dip into our own pockets to produce this screening, and hopefully have some funding from other parts of the weekend leftover after the event to reimburse ourselves. Your contributions will go toward the screening whether we reach the 5K mark or not and you will receive your perks regardless as well of course! We want this to be a corporate-sponsored event in the future but for now, to keep it fund raiser, we hope your contributions will support the cost of putting on this screening. Thank you!
How Else You Can Help
Tell your friends! A little bit from a lot of people can really add up! Please post our campaign and share it anywhere you can - Twitter, Facebook, etc. Here is our URL:
