OUR STORY

My name is Sabrina, I'm 25 years old and live in Sardinia, Italy. I studied design because I love 

creativity and handmade. I've always dreamed of becoming the champion of something, to help people and I 

realized that you can help others only if you know what they need. Hence the decision to help all 

penniless designers! 

So I put on a team that can't wait to get started! 

We designed a site that will be called DesignToaster, because this is right in the philosophy of our 

project: ideas come "raw" and leaving "toasted". 

Let me explain. 

The craftsman may propose his/her own idea on the site, this will be published and financed by the 

community through a lot of spread the word work done either by us and by the craftsman himself, 

through the major social networks and all the means we have. 

When the craftsman reach the estimated amount he/she can carry out the project and start to reward 

the donors through perks established at the time of project's presentation. Now craftsman can find 

inside the Toaster a place to show and advertise their finished project. The platform will include all 

handmade categories, from jewelry to clothing, from accessories to toys.. 

To understand the exact mechanisms of crowdfunding we decided to put ourself on the other side. 

We needing funds, what better way to apply our theory? We are trying to be financed ourselves  by 

the community, to understand what difficulties we encounter and to be able to give the right advice 

to those who will one day do the same thing. 

THE IMPACT, THE DIFFERENCES 

Our idea is to give everyone the opportunity to express themselves. Each of us must believe in what 

he does and through this website will not only find financing, but will understand what people think 

about his project, get advice and suggestions and make it better. Remember that you are not only 

helping us, but all the people who often give up a project because it met insurmountable walls such 

as banks and lenders. Together we can do it! 

What makes us different from others? 

1) First of all, DesignToaster is a site dedicated exclusively to handmade's artists in all its 

categories, this will create a community of people who share common interests and who want to 

discover and learn from others. 

2) The type of funding that we designed is the all-or-nothing method, with some differences, 

because in this way people will be more prompt to do it and be more objective setting the necessary 

sum. The artisan will set a sum and a time limit. Different cases:

The artisan reach the sum before the deadline, he can accumulate funds until the deadline.

If it doesn't reach the sum within the limits there are two possibilities:

-if the designer has reached at least 70% of the sum he may extend the deadline of the project

-if the sum reached is less than 70% of the sum, the money will be 

returned to all donors 

3) Projects will not be selected by us. We think that everyone should be able to demonstrate the 

value of their work, then people will decide whether or not contribute to the project. 

4) There will be a part of the site dedicated entirely to donors, it is thanks to them that the whole 

process can take place and it is right for us to give them the importance they deserve. 

5)In the site there will be a section where artisans can show the projects and indicate where they 

can be purchased/viewed. 

WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET 

Right now we have the home page ready, we put it online to show you the style of the Toaster. We 

need money to build the rest of the site. The design and graphics are ready and web designers can't 

wait to give life to this dream!If we fail to reach the budget, however, we'll continue to look for a 

lender, perhaps trying to understand what has not convinced you all.We are using Indiegogo 

because we believe in this method, we believe that the money given by many people have more 

value compared with money given by one. It's important for us understand if you believe in this 

project! 

On the right you can read the list of rewards. We tried to offer something that would not finished in 

a drawer and forgotten forever, but that would involve in our project, even once it is made.For 

example, you have a toast-banner to show everyone who you are, an advertisement that will always 

remain on our site. There is also the ToastInvaders t-shirt, for only $16!

The day before the Toaster's launch you'll receive an e-mail with a time and a code. Through this

code you can book your favourite toast (color,position) and enter the name of your site, blog or your Etsy shop.
