DesaKota Productions, founded in 2006, is an independent documentary production house based in Jakarta, Indonesia. DesaKota focuses on social documentaries with compelling stories that explore urban life, social justice, the Indonesian political environment, and how these intersect with the wider process of globalization. Besides documentaries, DesaKota also publishes books, photography and media content with a focus on contemporary Southeast Asia and pop culture.
DesaKota was started up by Canadian Producer/Director Daniel Ziv, a former author, magazine editor and humanitarian aid worker. The DesaKota team currently consists of the lead producer, a film editor, a graphic designer, a freelance photographer and a production assistant/bookkeeper.
