I learned all I know about "new media" independent digital production by visiting a dozen+ websites for a few hours every morning for the last seven years. With several books and almost 5000 blogs about independent new media digital cinema and digital animation on various sites, I've been called a "new media guru of sorts" (whatever that means) thanks to my blogs and my "george" article (but Ive also been called a lot of other things). No film, no lab and developing expenses, no negative, no chemicals, no work prints, no color corrected answer prints, no expensive "optical lab effects" charges and no 35mm release prints predicted in the near future means lower or no cost. And post has also disappeared! Everyone who can pick up a digital camcorder (live action films) and/or sit in front of a computer (animated films and editing) has already edited and made short films and many have already made their first features.
