Who we are & what we're doing
We are a band from Boston, MA. Our debut album was released this past April (read what people have to say about it here). Since the release, we've been touring the northeast and promoting the album by offering free singles for download via our Bandcamp page. One of these singles is called "Every Little Thing You Love."
After receiving a lot of positive feedback about this song, we decided to team up with a filmmaker named JP DiSciscio to create a music video... but we’re not trying to create just any old music video! What we’re creating will have the story, production value, and finer elements of a short film. JP has done some fantastic work (check out his short film Scatterbrain), he was also the art director on our "How Does It Feel to Be in Love?" interactive music video, which we released in July, and he even shot and edited the stop-motion promo video above. We feel lucky to be working with such a thoughtful, versatile, and talented filmmaker.
The premise of the video is simple: a girl falls in love with an alien. But it will run the gamut from there. There will be love, action, animation, roller skating, heartbreak & tears, blood & guts, good guys & bad guys, evil scientists... and we've already begun some of the minute production details - like developing our own breakfast cereal called Frosted Frogs. Here is a link to latest version of the script. We want you to know we’re taking this project very seriously. Everyone involved is incredibly excited about what this video can be, and we're eager to get started.
What we need & what you get
Our fundraising goal for this video is $3000 and we need help raising this money. We hope you'll consider donating to help make this project a reality. Any contribution you can make is a huge help. All of the money we raise will go to the cost of props, set design, costumes, and special effects make-up for our alien creature. Professional special effects make-up artist Mark Santos is designing the alien with a similar look to this. We'll also be using vintage in-camera photographic tricks, miniatures, animation, and special effects make-up for the design of the project. This will truly be a unique video in the tradition of music videos as "mini movies," when Thriller ruled MTV, not just band sing-a-longs. All the time and talents of our director, artists, crew, and cast are being graciously donated - we just need to get funding for these production costs so we can make this video something really special!
We’re also offering some perks, which means you will get something back for your donation! Depending on the amount you're able to contribute we are giving away copies of our album, unreleased recordings, t-shirts, stickers, pins, props and pre-production drawings from the video set, Matt has promised to write & record a song for everyone who gives more than $50, and if you’re really generous, we’ll come to your town and play a show! We’ll even play in your living room if you want.
Be part of this video!
Anyone who helps fund this project will receive an invitation to our roller skating video shoot party. There is a scene in the video that takes place in a roller skating rink, and we're going to need extras. This will take place at a New England-area skating rink in May/June - exact date & location TBA.
