Katherine Bruens has worked in many different areas of media and the dramatic arts; she has not only written, directed, performed and produced for both theater and film but also worked in set design, lighting, editing and distribution. Since graduating from Reed College, she has focused on producing and directing film, and has worked in that capacity on a variety of short films and music videos. Katherine also had the opportunity to work closely with producer Laura Techera on the feature length narrative feature Everything Strange and New which screened at Sundance this year. As an active member of the independent film community, Katherine produces a local film festival called the Begged, Borrowed and Stolen: The SF Film Project where local short films are screened, scored and discussed monthly with sponsors including Adolf Gassers, Lee Utterbach, Media Distributors, as well as private donors.
