Funded in the Nick of Time: Corner Store's Story
If one word had to wrap up the documentary Corner Store it would be "patience." Patient is Yousef Elhaj who after 10 years of hard work running a corner store in San Francisco finally gets to return to his home in Bethlehem. Patient are the producers who've spent two years diligently documenting Yousef's story, so we - the viewers - will be moved by his heroism in just 2 hours. Patience is what brings art to life....
...except when it's time to raise money.
In true entrepreneur form, the producers of Corner Store put patience aside. 3 weeks ago, they faced a $1,900 funding gap. They needed the funds by the funds by the end of April. So what did they do?
They rolled up their sleeves and launched a 2-week IndieGoGo campaign.
In those 14 days, they raised over $2,000, the most coming in the final day. Plus, they overshot their goal by almost $1,000. By hitting and passing their goal, they also earned the IndieGoGo 5% cash reward.
How did they do it? They offered cool perks:- fun T-shirts
- chance to see your name on the big screen
- limited edition DVDs
They passionately and industriously got the word out via:
- newsletters
We were always told that "Patience is a Virtue." I think the creators of Corner Store have dispelled that myth!
While it takes a lot of patience to tell a good story, it requires urgency to fund it.
I'm a new member to the site. Posted my first project, which is also a somewhat time limited project.
Are there any design tutorials available. In setting up the project, it appears I don't have all of the tweaks I need. My proposal doesn't look like the rest. I do feel that I have some decent perks though. Here's the URL--- http://www.indiegogo.com/Crunchy-Jazz-TV-Show
