Talk about a cool project! One week ago, Yvette Dudley-Neuman received a very exciting letter. She had been accepted for the Canadian Actors Equity Audition Project – the audition circuit for all Eastern Canadian theatrical productions for the upcoming theater season. There was only one problem. She didn't have the funds to pay for her trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia – where the audition project was taking place.
So Yvette found a solution! She turned to IndieGoGo and her very own community to help her get one step closer to making it on Canadian Broadway. Today, Yvette has a roundtrip ticket to Halifax, a hotel stay, AND some extra bonus cash for time with her vocal coach and pianist.
In 7 days, 15 friends and believers contributed over $1,000 in aggregate to make Yvette Halifax trek happen on IndieGoGo.
How did she pull it off so quickly?
- Fun perks
- Fresh updates, and
- Some good old fashion passion!
Roadside Rescuer. For $20, two fans earned the title of "Roadside Rescuer." Their contributions got them a thank you credit at the end of the YouTube Video Blog that Yvette will do to document her Halifax Adventure.
Suitcase Slingers. Two fans won the title of "Suitcase Slinger" for $50, which came with a personal shout out from Yvette in the video.
Flight Crew – Coach. Lastly, eight more fans have gone down in history as Yvette's personal "Flight Crew." For their $100 contribution they get a a commemorative card and photo from Yvette's journey.
Check out Yvette's acceptance letter on her IndieGoGo page, and send her a comment to root her on. Now that we've gotten her to Halifax, let's hope she gets picked for a part!
Keep us posted, Yvette. See you on stage!

THE AUDITION PROJECT: The Audition Project, designed exclusively for professional theatre artists, will assemble 15 directors and artistic directors from across Canada, to audition professional Canadian artists on April 19 and 20 at the Dalhousie Arts Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
