'Where The Hell is Matt?' Finds A Cause |
I know. You have already seen the Where The Hell is Matt? video, thought it was awesome, and are sick of hearing about it. But are you aware that net-celebrity Matt Harding is now planning to use his fame, his funny dance, and the viral video as a platform to raise money for laptops for the world's poor population.
Think The Evolution of Dance meets One Laptop Per Child
Another interesting twist is the video was sponsored by Stride Gum. A very interesting experiment in using social media to reach the audience. Obviously now I am writing about them, but will you buy any more gum? They paid for all the travel and expenses. A good gig if you can get it.
Matt was even able to commission 17 year-old Palbasha Siddique, a Bengali native living in Minnesota, to sing the song, Praan. As an extension to the social media possibilities, the Bengali song had reached top twenty status on Amazon sales charts, selling between $1-$2 per download.
Overall kudos to Matt for finding a passion, turning it into a career, and now turning it into Good! I am looking forward to your next video and all the future knock-offs.
