YouTube Goes 90 Minutes
DIWO Examples: Four Eyed Monsters, We Are The Strange, 10 MPH, and Cult of Sincerity
YouTube Goes Long is an interesting Fortune article about how YouTube is experimenting with feature length content on their site. We all know the typical experience has been to watch a quick 2-6 minute video like The Evolution of Dance or Mentos/Diet Pepsi experiments, but the only real constraint on longer pieces being available has been bandwidth. With YouTube growing at such a rapid pace they always limited the upload lengths to ensure their storage and processing capacity could keep up. Well now they have the deep pockets and experience of Papa Google and there is no reason why full length features wont become a staple on YouTube (legal would be good). More content, more eyeballs, more ad dolllars....higher stock price.
We know about some of the longer pieces YouTube has been experimenting with, like Four Eyed Monsters, We Are The Strange, 10 MPH, and Cult of Sincerity. Tonight will culminate into an offline event and maybe some "special" announcements. Note to movie theatres....YouTube is coming!
