"Everything you can imagine is real." - Pablo Picasso
The Project
Based on the Stephen King story, "Stationary Bike" and part of his Dollar Baby project.
Bike is a twenty five minute short film about the struggles of a widower and the gradual loss of his grasp on reality. When Richard Sifkitz receives a stark warning from his Doctor regarding his health, his obsessive behavior that helped fuel his career as an artist starts to become his downfall. After purchasing an exercise bike he begins a new healthy outlook and hopefully a chance at longer life.
The situation is turned sour by the doctors insistence that his body is helped along by metabolic workmen. The workmen manifest into Bronson, Wheeler, Ryan and Charlie, four men who have worked under Richard for all of his life. As Richard continues his healthy lifestyle, the men turn to mutiny and the manifestations become increasingly real.
Who We Are
We are Random Download Productions, a group of three 3rd year Media Production students from Coventry University, UK. After we completed our last short film in April by filming "The Gift of a Stranger" on location in Pasadena, California, we wanted to do another project that would challenge us even more.
You can find out more about that film here. The film has been submitted to several international film festivals. You can see a clip of it in the pitch video.
"Bike" will form our final project at University, so it is essentially our calling card to the industry when we leave.
David Toms: Director, Co-Producer and Writer - "I am really excited about this project, mind bending films are few and far between, but they are such absorbing spectacles that you take on board their ideals and remember them for a long time. That is our aim with Bike."
James Colley: Co-Producer and Sound - "To have even been accepted onto the program is a great honor. I truly believe we can make something really special with this adaptation."
Mike Peace: Co-Producer and Assistant Director - "This is a great opportunity for us to work on Stephen King adaptation, as it will not only allow us to grow as filmmakers, but it will also allow us to form a great base for the start of our careers."
Also as a little footnote, we are currently in Hangzhou, China on a University culture and learning exchange.
The Shoot
Filming will take place in late March over 10 days in Birmingham and Coventry, UK.

Other Ways To Help
Spread the word. Getting the word out there about the project is one of the best ways to help us. The more people that see it, the closer we might be able to come to reaching our budget. So tweet, Facebook post, email...anything you can.
