Our Story...or the story of Steve

We are a group of independent filmmakers/actors who are embarking on the creation of a web-series entitled "Big Yellow A-Hole". It features a drinking, smoking, drug-addled, human-hating former child star who wants to get back into show business. He now goes by the name Steve. Steve finds it difficult to regain his fame due to the "former child star" stigma. Well, that and the fact that he's a complete asshole. He's a sociopath who'll stop at nothing to regain that spotlight. We've all but finished shooting Episode 1 and are extremely pleased with the results. Episodes 2 through 6 are scripted and ready to go and we'd like some help getting those done if you can spare a few bucks.

The Impact

In a media market like Dallas/Fort Worth you're often left waiting for someone to create a break for you...that one good role on a TV show or movie. But honestly, those opportunities are few and far between here. So, you must create your own opportunities...and that's what we're doing.

Behind and in front of the camera in DFW, commercials are the biggest biz, but there are now windows open for content creators like our group. Things like what we are shooting have gotten people jobs, REAL jobs on shows that you'd recognize. Even a few of the big networks have dipped their toes into creating content exclusively for the web, or picking up web-series for airing on TV. Adult Swim carries a few shows that started out on the web. We know the odds...they're not great, but we think our concept is funny and funny sells!

And beyond that, we already have an idea on how to transition this concept to TV. We're parodying an existing character and parody is protected free speech (i.e. Robot Chicken). But if we're approached by any players on any level that want us to remove the parody aspect, we already have ideas ready to go to replace it with our own creations. Regardless of what may or may not happen, what we ARE doing already is giving people experience behind and in front of the lens which can translate to more work...real work. And that's what all of us want here whether a member of the cast or crew.

What We Need & What You Get

We're asking for just a little money to help get us through the shooting and post-production. We paid for the first episode out of our pocket, and while reasonable, it's not going to be cheap to shoot five more. We need money to rent gear, buy lunch/dinner/snacks for on set, give gas stipends to our cast/crew, purchase props and wardrobe, and perhaps even buy a trinket or two to use behind the camera. We're not asking for a lot and if we get more, we'll take it! Our goal is to raise $175 for each of the 5 remaining episodes and an extra $100 in case we need it...$975 total. That's beyond cheap for what we're doing here. That's because we know how to do what we do quickly and are all doing this because we believe that it will work. We sure hope so. And we hope you want to see us be successful in our endeavor as well. We're not going for film festivals this time...we're going for eyeballs. We wanna go viral!
