Help bring the Black is Beautiful Documentary to schools across the country
For every $10 or more donation we receive between now and February 28, 2012. We will donate a free copy of the Black is Beautiful Documentary DVD to a school library and send you a pre-release digital copy. Don’t hesitate visit our fundraising site at www.indiegogo.com/bib
My vision for this documentary is to see school assemblies of hundreds of students watching the 100 Black and Latina women verbally celebrate the strength, power and beauty of being a person of color. Each of those students will be able to identify and connect with a person on screen that looks like they do or looks like a friend or relative.
In today's society our young people are often made to feel the very things that showcase their ethnicity are what makes them less than other cultures; and so begins the cycle of low-self esteem, self deprecation and so on. Think back to when you were younger, or even at times today, where you may have felt less than, or not as wonderful due to your skin tone, hair texture or physical features! And to my brothers, think about that woman you know is beautiful, but she doesn't see it. Well this documentary has the power to be the first aid kit to that sickness. And though it won't be a cure-all, it will empower, encourage and initiate positive dialogue.
Many of us just spent hundreds on gifts for children this past holiday season. A lot of those gifts have been broken, returned and forgotten. Here is your chance help to give the gift of self-esteem a gift that will last a lifetime. For as little as $5, $10 or $25 you can make a difference. If you have more, feel free to give more. For each donation level you will receive a special gift of appreciation that ranges from pre-release copies of DVD, Limited Edition T-Shirts, Exclusive Photo Journals and tickets to Red Carpet Premieres and After Parties.
