I am pleased to report that with the help of a large ensemble of musicians and some talented recording engineers, I've managed to record 5 brand new Steve Goldberg and the Arch Enemies songs. These songs comprise a new EP entitled "The Flood" which I hope to release later this year. They are the most lovingly arranged and lushly produced tracks I've put to hard disk yet, and I'm very excited to release them.

All of the recording, which I have funded myself, has already been completed over the past several months; from drums, guitar, and vocals to strings, brass, and woodwinds. You curious cats can get a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process over at stevegoldbergmusic.com. All that's left to do now is the post-production, which includes everything that happens between capturing the performances and releasing the album.

One track, July, has been post-produced already, and I've released it for free to promote the EP and this fundraising campaign. It's a feel-good summertime jam and I think you're going to dig it. You can listen to the song and watch the video at the top of this page. Did you watch it yet? Good. Feel free to spread that sucker around. You can download the mp3 here. So here's what's left to do before this bad boy can hit the streets:

  • Mixing the other 4 tracks
  • Mastering the EP
  • Designing the packaging and producing album artwork
  • Manufacturing the CDs
  • Promoting the album

I've estimated the above expenses at $5000, and that's what I hope to raise with this campaign. I've given myself 30 days to meet this fundraising goal. Along the right side of the page you'll see a list of rewards that you'll receive at various levels of donation. Consider the first two donation levels an album pre-order, and the subsequent rewards a thank-you gift for your generosity in helping my music sound its best. So please donate what you can, and if you can't donate then you can still help by sending around the link to this campaign or to the mp3 or video for "July." Thanks for spreading the word, and remember: there's plenty of fish in Fishtown, and if it ain't baroque, don't fix it.

Lyrics:

cheap rum, chewing gum, cherry cola
fresh cut grass
riding round this little town in an old Corolla
with july swimming past

homemade lemonade, melted chocolate,
setting sun
disappearing in the clearing paints us scarlet
one by one

cause I'm just killing time
until it kills me too
and I hope you don't mind
if I kill time with you

footrace, second place, but I don't mind
when I lose
back here in the rear I always find
I get a better view

first kiss nervousness, bathing beauty
on the sand
animal chemicals flowing through me
guide my callow hands

september seems so far
let's stay right where we are
we'll ripen in the sun
and pray that winter never comes
