Our Story
Who is 'Amy' and why should we care?
'Amy' is the innocence in us all.
She's the innocence that's taken away by society's decay.
She's fragile, easily bruised and on display for all to see.
'Amy' is the vengeance inside of you and me.
Local
screenwriter/director/producer Brian White (Darkest Night Productions) and
filmmaker/director Jonathan Koenig (C-Town Film Factory, Hooka Face and The Virgin Boy winner of Best Comedy Short at
the 2010 Atlanta Underground Film Festival) are combining forces to produce a
full-length feature film this fall titled AMY. AMY
tackles America's drunk driving epidemic head-on with its visceral and
no-holds-barred depiction of how the lives of victims, their families and the
lives of the perpetrators are horrifically altered and destroyed by this common
tragedy. AMYs raw tale of reflection and retribution weaves clever twists,
leaving you guessing until the end, as it breathes new life into the age-old,
self-fulfilling prophecy of how karma always comes back around to repay us for
our misdeeds.
Brian White has lived in the Northeast Ohio area his entire life. After losing a young relative to drunk driving, White believes that in one way or another, weve all had our lives affected by drunk driving. Filmmaker Jonathan Koenig is joining White with a singular vision to make a feature film that will change the way people view independent features, using unconventional production techniques, a meticulous thought process and most importantly, embracing their work as a labor of love. Their goal is simple: To make an intelligent and captivating film rich in production value and grounded in reality, while leveraging the ever-popular horror/revenge genre to force viewers to think, and ultimately care about, the characters in the film and the events happening onscreen. The city of Cleveland will prominently be on display throughout.
The films Official website can be found at www.amywantsrevenge.com.
We plan to begin filming this fall with a proposed budget of $90,000.
The Impact
While subject matter pertaining to and explored within the revenge/thriller genre is nothing new, we guarantee Amys raw emotion and redeeming qualities will win you over, not to mention the unorthodox filmmaking techniques that will be applied. Like Scream did in the 90s to slasher films, we hope to provide a breath of fresh air to the R-rated thriller community. We are committed to making an entertaining yet intelligent film, grounded in reality, which will force the viewers to think. We have garnered nothing but positive praise and feedback on the finalized screenplay and we are very excited to begin work on this project. We are putting our hearts and souls into AMY because we believe in the finished product. So likewise, we are looking for equally enthused and passionate contributors to help us bring our vision to the big screen.
The production team, crew and actors working on Amy are doing so on a completely voluntary basis (NO ONE is earning a salary). Instead, we are putting the money where it belongs, in the films PRODUCTION VALUE. We are ambitiously setting out to make and create something special here. Like Robert Rodriguez did for his hometown state of Texas, we want to put Cleveland on the map. Sure there are those Avengers, Nickelodeon and Paramount productions currently going on here in Ohio, but when is the last time you have ever seen something homegrown from Cleveland truly make a splash in Hollywood? That is our goalour passion and our commitment. Its to make a film with rich, cinematic production value that rivals and hopefully topples most of our Western states competition.
We have assembled a team of like-minded individuals all in this for the long haul because we have a product we strongly believe in and are committed to the end. Filming will primarily be done on the weekends and we are expecting a 4-month shooting schedule (with a TBD start in September). Allocation for budgeted funds include a used Red One camera package (guaranteed R.O.I. with post-production rentals), 15 studio monitor, lights, 4 TB hard drives for housing footage, food/craft services, costumes/wardrobe, props (including a junked car), makeup and effects (blood effects, pyrotechnics and a car explosion), legal work (contracts), insurance (hazard and liability), a local fundraising party, audio supplies (mics, etc), post production costs (5.1 audio mixing and editing), premiere screening, promotional material (artwork, posters, etc) and distribution (marketing, sales, etc). A budget sheet that accurately displays these allocations of funds is available upon request. A fight choreographer will work with four of the actors over the next few months rehearsing and constructing their fight scenes to give the film a more realistic and well-conceived look onscreen.
Through private investments, within our core production team, we have already covered $22,000 of the $90,000 needed. The additional $68,000 we need to raise in the next several months (online and through local fundraising events) will be used and allocated for everything mentioned above.
All of the filming will take place in locations throughout the greater Cleveland, OH area and surrounding communities. We have already secured the necessary permissions to shoot at desired locations. That means no permits! We have also garnered the attention of local businesses and received sponsorship from local breweries and such for the marketing of their products. That means free props for us!
What We Need & What You Get
We obviously need to cover all of the expenses listed above. Four core members of our production team have already invested $22,000 of their own money towards the project because they believe in the success of the film. We are 100% committed to making this project happen and more importantly, making it that key word...successful. Production team members, crew and cast support this vision and want nothing more than to see it become a reality and make something special together as a TEAM.
The show must go on! While we realize, $20,000 is a small chunk of change compared to the $68,000 we need, rest assured that in addition to online contributions here at IndieGoGo we are also planning several local fundraisers in Cleveland, OH to meet our aggressive goals. No one said making a feature film was going to be easy. It just goes to show you how utterly determined and committed we all are to this project.
Our goals are aggressive. Theres no doubt about that. This isnt a college project. This is the real deal. This is the time where us, the little people of Cleveland, say hello Hollywood. Take notice. We can make a feature film just as good, if not better than you, right here in our own rural backyard. This is our time to RISE UP. Lebron had his chance. Now its our time!
The following perks apply to our IndieGoGo contributors:
