Our Story

Bad Habits have been working hard playing gigs for the last year and a half and entertaining audiences across Prince Edward Island.  We believe in musical karma, we love being a part of our community and making a difference through our music by supporting many great causes such as the PEI Toys for Tots campaign, Cancer Society, the Soup Kitchen, CBC Turkey Drive and more.   

 

Over this time, we've also been writing and audience testing our original material in preparation for some day being able to record our first album.  Despite how "awesome" we sound in our video, we are not an a cappella group and our fans seem to enjoy the full show including our instruments.  Every show, someone new comes up to us requesting to buy an album and frankly we're tired of saying no!  Unfortunately, the life of a musician is expensive!  Between new equipment and replacing broken and stolen equipment we've had a hard time saving enough to make this album a reality.  

 

We were recently nominated for two Music PEI Awards including Entertainer of the Year and won the fan voted Bell Aliant Weekend Warrior Award this past January.  We would love to have an album to help us expose our music to a wider audience.  With your help, we're excited to say that we can make this happen!  

 

The Impact

We are looking to record this album now to allow us the opportunity to submit our music to festivals such as the  PEI Jazz & Blues Festival, Dutch Mason Blues Festival, Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, Montreal Jazz & Blues Festival and more!  As well, deadlines for Music PEI, ECMA's and Maple Blues Awards will be here again before we know it and it's our goal to have an album ready to submit!  Without your help, these goals will take longer to achieve.

 

What We Need & What You Get

Well... we're asking for $5922.00.  Why so specific?  Here's the breakdown:

 

Amount we actually need to make this happen: $9932.00

 

Our quote from an Award Winning Island studio breaks down as follows:

Studio time + mixing + mastering = $6552.00

CD replication (1000 copies) + graphic design + photography = $2800.00

Plus processing fees from Indiegogo

 

After all our expenditures (gear, gas and tambourines), we have saved $2010.00 from gigs and t-shirt sales.   We are also committed to saving at least an additional $2000.00 for our album.  Which leaves us with that big number up top!

** Although we would love to include a tambourine in your package, the tambourine colour just represents each package level.  Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee our supply of tambourines.  We do however work out some pretty sweet deals for keeping a tambo at our shows.

 

What happens if we don't meet our target?

 

We'll have the blues... Seriously, we'll still have the "blues" and we'll still make the album.  You'll still get all the perks, it will just take a bit longer or we may just have to start charging for tambos ;-)
