First off, thank you for visiting
our page and hopefully contributing to our project. What we are trying to do is raise money for a fan-made music
video for You Know What I Mean by Cults. Now we know what youre thinking, why are you guys putting so much time and effort in a fan-made music
video? The truth is, this has been a passion project of ours for
a while now and we feel that after all these years of busting our tails on
short films, commercials and music videos, this project will be an accumulation
of everything weve learned so far.
Over the years we have funded all
of our own work and because of this, we have to constantly cut corners and be
somewhat stingy with our production money. In the end, the outcome of the project is never quite what
we had envisioned to begin with.
That being said, we really want to produce this project on a low budget,
but at the same time, not allow it to suffer because of certain costs. We plan on funding some of the video
ourselves, but to complete the project WE NEED YOUR HELP!
This is actually our first time
crowd funding, but we truly believe that with a little help from everyone, itll
be a huge benefit for the project in the end. And for those of you who dont know us, we promise you this;
we are a couple of the hardest working people you will ever meet. We take pride in our work and will make
sure that this music video is something we can all be proud to be a part of.
Concept:
As far as the look of the video,
we are definitely going with a more cinematic film like feel. Also, since this is a fan-made music
video, unfortunately Cults will not actually be in it or have any involvement,
as far as we know. Its okay though,
what were trying to do is create something from the fans and show what group
of people who believe in a project can do.
We are huge fans of LOST and
because of that show, we cant help but be secretive about our ideas for the
sake of not spoiling anything.
That being said, below is a very brief and cryptic synopsis of the
concept for this music video.
Based on our interpretation
of You Know What I Mean, the
idea is to follow the love between 2 characters through 3 important dances in
their life. From their first
meeting when they were children to years later as adults, our goal is to tell a
story that has heart and is relatable for the audience. 48151623.
Previous Work:
This will be our forth music
video and by far our most ambitious. Below is a brief history of our production teams
successes:
Our first music video "Romance Tried to Kill
Me" was voted #8 in the Dallas Observer's Top 20 Local Music Videos of
2010.
Our second music video, Balrog 24/7 was selected for
the Dallas VideoFest 2010. It was 1 of only 9 selected for the Best in
Texas showing. It was also a
Vimeo staff pick and currently sits over 23 thousand views.
Our short film "Time Line Inc." also won the
Grand Jury Award at Houston WorldFEST 2011 for best original narrative short
film-drama.

Where your donation will go:
The main uses of the funds raised
will be for equipment, wardrobe, props and location fees. None of us will actually be paid. Also,
if we do end up making this video under budget, we will take whatever
money is left and donate it to a charity here in Dallas, TX.
Other Ways You Could Help:
Please spread the word of our
project! Passing this campaign
along to friends, family or just anyone you think would be interested will be
so much help to us!
