Our Story
EASA stands for the European Architecture Students Assembly, however the EASA concept represents more than that. It represents an ambitious initiative at an international level, absolutely unique in the European university field, developed by and for architecture students. Since1981, over 400 students traveling from more than forty European countries, are meticulously selected by an open competition, to participate in the annual summer assembly which manifests as a two week workshop which is held in a different European city each year. This is a non-profit event where participants and organizers take part in workshops, lectures and debates, with the common goal of enriching the city in which it is held, and therefore, enriching themselves.
EASA 2011 will take
EASA011 will be held in Cdiz, where the workshops, lectures, discussions and exhibitions will take place. The theme (deCOASTruction) deals with the process of de-configuration the Spanish coast has experienced over the last decades due to massive construction. We understand that the massive urbanization is phenomenon that has been produced at a national level so through lectures and activities we will help the participants to obtain a big picture of what urbanization has been in Spain over the last decades.

The Impact
EASA is not only a two-week-event that takes place every summer in a certain location of Europe. EASA is a network of young and ambitious people that organises workshops, symposiums, lectures and other events in a non-profit basis throughout the year.
Year after year many institutions and companies get involved in the EASA summer events by economically supporting its activities and workshops. Events with life lasting and impressive outcomes that do not only last in the city where they take place, but in the minds of some 400 of the brightest architecture students of the continent.
Appart from the obvious impact that EASA has had in every location where it has taken place over the last 30 years, EASA benefits from a wide media coverage along the continent. EASA 2011 has already been featured in more than 20 different newspapers, websites and blogs; and its activities will be covered by the Spanish Public Television channel during the event. In addition, after EASA 2011, a documentary and a book will be produced gathering the its outcomes, as it has been done in previous editions of the event.

How it economically works
EASA 2011, established as a non-profit event, bases its budget on the fees that every participant pays and the contributions made by sponsors. The participant fees are always kept low in order to keep the Assembly open to talented students, wherever they come from.
For this reason, contributions from institutions, companies and individuals can have a great effect in the event itself.
