A family is torn apart from one another and their religion when they discover that their pastor has been sexually abusing their teenage son for years. Although they are scarred from this betrayal, they ultimately come back a stronger family and spiritual unit. The film deals with issues of religion, faith, spirituality, sexuality and forgiveness.  

 WHO IS THIS GUY THAT WANTS MY MONEY

My name is Ya'Ke and I am a film writer, director, editor and CEO of Exodus Filmworks.  With the help of my producing partner, Ralph Lopez, I've had a pretty good amount of success with short films and have won my share of awards, including a Directors Guild of America Student Film Award, a regional Student Academy Award and best short film awards at the Austin Film Festival, Urbanworld Film Festival, The American Black Film Festival and the San Antonio Film Festival, just to name a few. My latest short, Katrinas Son is eligible for 2012 Academy Award Consideration.

 THE IMPACT.

In doing research for this film, I came across a chat room for men who had been molested as children. The men on this site never told anyone before signing into the forum, and were only comfortable telling their stories because of the anonymity of the site. Some of the men became abusers. Some became alienated from society. Majority never fully healed from the psychological trauma. For boys to talk about abuse is taboo and even more so if its a clergy member abusing them. My hope with this film is to open a forum of discussion thats not hidden, one where those that are abused (MALE OR FEMALE) can share their stories, not only for their healing, but for the healing of someone else.

As anyone who has ever made a film knows, its not cheap. The funds we are asking for will only cover a fraction of the production, but will at least allow us to get the film in the can.  The monies raised will go to food, paying cast and crew, equipment rental, wardrobe, locations, etc. I could go on and on, but in short, every dime raised will go into the creation of this film. I will also be applying for other film grants to help raise money for post-production and distribution. Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated!
